Belajar untuk memberikan ASI, setelah proses melahirkan yang sangat melelahkan, akan menjadi sebuah perjuangan yang cukup berat. Akan tetapi, bila anda mampu bertahan dan mengikut ibu beberapa tips sederhana, mungkin anda akan dapat merasakan manfaatnya. Merupakan hal yang sangat alami dan mengagumkan melihat seorang ibu menyusui anaknya, sebuah permulaan yang merupakan pembrian terbaik bagi si bayi. Walaupun bagi sebagian ibu hal tersebut terlihat mudah, tetapi banyak yang mengalami kesulitan. Sadarilah wahai kaum Hawa. Kita ditakdirkan bisa melakukan yang tidak mampu laki-laki lakukan. Ibulah yang memberikan ASI kepada Bayi. Keistimewaan itu, sayang disia-siakan. Dengan membengkaknya payudara, puting yang sakit, dan tangisan bayi meminta susu, kadangkala agak-agak terpengaruh dengan iklan susu formula. Pada hal ASI memiliki manfaat yang sangat besar, diantaranya kandungan AA dan DHA yang mempengaruhi perkembagan otak. Walaupun kandungan ini juga terdapat di dalam susu formula, tetapi itu tidak semurni yang dikandung ASI. Disamping itu, ASI juga mengandung enzim lipase yang tidak bisa digantikan oleh susu formula manapun. Kita tahu, bahwa enzim lipase ini berfungsi untuk penyerapan, dan enzim itu akan rusak kena panas. Peran serta suami untuk mendampingi istri dikala menyusui juga sangat penting. Disamping aiir susu lancar, bayi juga lebih tenang dan nyaman, karena bayi lebih sensitif terhadap apa yang dialami ibu, kalau ibu merasakan nyaman, bayi akan merasakan itu juga.
